Spurs Suffer Huge Radiopane Blow

Cape Town Spurs have suffered a big blow after talisman Boitumelo Radiopane suffered an injury against Casric Stars that has ruled him out of the rest of the play-offs.

After finishing second in the Motsepe Foundation Championship Spurs have to compete in the PSL promotion play-offs with MFC third-placed Casric Stars and Maritzburg United, who finished 15th in the DStv Premiership.

The Cape Town-based side started their journey with a 1-0 win away at Casric in Mpumalanga at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium, curtesy of a second half goal by Ashley Cupido.

Immediately after the goal, deep in the second half, Orlando Pirates loanee Radiopane had to be taken off with stretcher after he received what looked like a small knock, with Therlo Moosa replacing him.

This publication has since learnt that Radiopane is likely to miss the entire play-offs after suffering a fracture.

“Radiopane suffered a bone fracture, he is out for the entire mini league play-offs,” a close source confirmed.

The 21-year-old has scored seven goals for Spurs in the 2022/23 season, which make him the third top goalscorer in the Urban Warriors team after Ashley Cupido who has scored 16 goals and Therlo Moosa who has scored 10 goals.

Spurs next encounter will be against Maritzburg United on 3 June at Athlone Stadium. But first The Team of Choice will host Casric Stars at Harry Gala Stadium on Wednesday, 31 May.
