Mike Tyson, Champion of the ages

In the battle of the ages, in the true sense, Mike Tyson was defeated by the challengers in a bitter slugfest. “Iron” Mike Tyson, was interviewed before the fight on what it’s going to be, “Vicious”, answered the champ.

And vicious it was. From the moment Mike Tyson stepped into the ring the beast mode was turned on. In a symphony of violence Jake Paul was knocked around shortly after Mike Tyson stepped in the ring.

But the fight was showing the lackluster by both fighters. Jake Paul not really hurting the champ and Tyson was not able to deliver a decisive blow.

In a sold-out AT&T venue in Texas Mike Tyson returned to the ring after 19 years. Introduced as the ‘baddest men in the world’ Tyson slugged Jake Paul right from the beginning.

The challenger, 27-year old, was not much of a challenger against the experienced slugger. The entrance by Jake Paul driven in a car with Phil Collins music blaring was bizarre to say at least. The audience was less impressed.

“Iron Mike” entered the area with lot less drama and the crowd went wild. Tyson went slower, like an aging bull but determined.

Despite his height and reach Mike Tyson avoided right-hand punches. In the first round Jake Paul landing a punch but Tyson working himself into close quarter combat. Style and power were typical self-inflated ego and Tyson was mechanically. Slow and steady he landed a few square punches on the surprised younger Jake Paul.

The point that “Iron” Mike was making is age is not a substitute for experience. Despite Jake Paul’s dangerous single, right hand knocked out his opponents with powerful single shots.

The hype was overrated. Mike Tyson preparation was classic. Pumping iron, running mile after mile. The challenger came across as a fat, overweight pimped out wanna be. Earrings, blink, he looked like a pimped out, new generation YouTuber working for the thrill to try to beat a champion. Jake Paul is not the story in the ring.

Jake Paul had a dilemma. He beats the champion; the public will hate him. He gets beaten the crowd will pass judgement. Once the decision was made the crowd went for Tyson despite point win for Jake Paul.

At the end Jake Paul had enough bowing to the Champ. And Tyson retaliated in style. All in all, “Iron Mike” is the hero in a fight defined by age versus punk.
